Therefore we suggest it for feminine health issues with the chest, it’s also great for the gut & of course the immune system at many levels as nearly all medicinal mushrooms are. Rich in antioxidants which strengthen against free radicals resulting in inflammation, they are packed with 38 bioactive phenol compounds such as flavones: Apigenin, Baicalein, Luteolin. Flavonols: Quercetin and Rutin, etc., flavonone’s, flavanols, biflavanoids and isoflavanoids. Phenolic Acids: p-hydroxy benzoic, protocatechuic and vanillic, even coumarins and much more! They contain vitamins such as nicotinic acid and nicotinamide. The fatty acids linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid and linolenic acid. The essential & non-essential amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, methionine, tyrosine, glutamine and asparagine; in essence a medicine cabinet for all body systems.
Special attention is given to the compounds Krestin (PSK) & polysaccharide peptide (PSP) which help to promote immunity to toxins and activating white blood cells called macrophages which help to protect against harmful bacteria. These two specific factors also help the body inhibit the spread of systemic growths.

HISTORY
As with much traditional uses, the Chinese Materials Medica published over 2,000 years ago hold the first record uses of Turkey Tail as a cultural phenomenon medicine. In 1578 in the “Compendium of Chinese Material Medica” by Li She Zhen, there are 120 varieties of what they called “Yunzhi” (TT) mentioned. In TCM, TT is said to have a sweet and bland taste, being slightly cold and belonging to the liver, spleen and lung meridians (one of the reasons it has an affinity to the female chest). It was used to relieve asthma, invigorate the spleen and remove dampness. In the 17th century, a medical text by author Lu Zhivi described the “Five Colored Divine Lucidium” which many scholars have presumed to be speaking of the Turkey Tail. This description essentially translates to “Mountains, rivers, clouds and rain, the essence of yin and yang in the four seasons and five elements, give birth to the five-colored divine lucidum”. Also depicting it’s spread of growth as “Mushroom Zhi grows on the deep mountains and big trees, on the side of the deep spring, with five colors and tasteless, or like the shape of dragons and tigers”.
Although it is not a fungi one would readily eat in the wild or upon foraging, some have said that it is a substitute for chewing gum. It has always been used in extractions or decoctions for tea and when powdered can be consumed as a powder in shakes or in capsules. The powder has also been added to stews, curries and soups, or added to vegetables and rice dishes.
